ISLAMABAD,   (Parliament Times) : President Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Azad Kashmir and Senior Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan said that 17th Extraordinary Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Islamabad on 19 December 2021 was testimonial of prime minister Imran Khan being an international leader and leader of Muslim world. ”Imran Khan took lead among Muslim leaders in support towards people of Afghanistan at time of expected worst humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan,” Sardar Tanveer Ilyas said.

He further hoped that the international community and OIC countries would also come forward to jointly support people of Kashmir, just like people of Afghanistan, who are facing brutality in the hands of Indian occupational forces in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan also appreciated the Pakistan-sponsored resolution entitled “Universal Realization of the Right of the Peoples to Self-Determination” adopted by consensus by the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The resolution unequivocally supports the right of self-determination for all peoples under subjugation, alien domination and foreign occupation. This includes the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Meanwhile, over 70 delegations from OIC member states, non-members and international organizations are attending the 17th Extraordinary Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers being held in Islamabad on 19 December. It includes around 20 delegations led at the Ministerial and 10 at the Deputy Minister-level. The meeting is being convened in the backdrop of the aggravating humanitarian situation in Afghanistan.Besides expressing solidarity with the Afghan people, the meeting is expected to explore avenues for containing and reversing the rapidly deteriorating humanitarian situation in Afghanistan, especially in terms of food shortages, displacement of people and a potential economic collapse.
