TURBAT, (Parliament Times) : A high level review meeting on trade issues in the border areas of Makran was held under the chairmanship of Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Abdul Qaddos Bizenjo. Commander 12 Corps Lieutenant General Sarfraz Ali, Provincial Ministers Syed Ehsan Shah, Zahoor Ahmad Baledi, Akbar Askani, Lala Rasheed Baloch and Mah Jabeen Sheeran Chief Secretary Balochistan Mutahir Niaz Rana, IG Police GOC 44 Division IGFC South Commander Navy and other relevant federal and Provincial officials also attended the meeting. The meeting finalized the modalities of trade of oil and groceries with Iran in view of the livelihood and convenience of the people of the border areas. The meeting was briefed on the traditional modalities of border trade and the proposed model. The meeting decided to remove the requirement of obtaining tokens for the people of the area to come and go at the border and bring oil. It was decided at the meeting that the local administration would register the vehicle on the basis of the identity card of the driver and his accomplice. It was decided at the meeting that the mafia would not be allowed to take advantage of this trade facility for which the concerned agencies would ensure effective measures while besides Makran the people of Washik Awaran and Kharan would also be able to avail this facility. The meeting was informed that at present there are 10 crossing points in Makran out of which 9 are on land and one is from the sea. An Apex Committee will be set up at the provincial level and a District Committee will be set up under the supervision of DC. Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said that we have to provide facilities to our people and ensure protection of their jobs and interests. To address this, the government will provide maximum relief to the people of the border areas, especially the youth, and protect their livelihood.
