Karachi(Daily Parliament Times): A large number of peace workers and civil society members gathered outside the Pakistani consulate in Manchester to demand early release of Pakistani mother and leading scientist Dr Aafia
Siddiqui. As per information received from Manchester, even though it has been raining heavily in Manchester for the last two days, today the weather was sunny, dry and cool. Good turnout of mostly ladies was witnessed. Amongst the protesters, there was Imam Abid Khan from a well-known
Masjid in Manchester, who gave a speech. He reminded Imran Khan of his promises about Aafia Siddiqui. He said Imran Khan, who said 10 years ago: "The chapter of Aafia Siddiqui is one of the most shameful chapters in the history of our country." He said now 10 years on, he is the prime
minister, he is in power, the call for him is to stand by his promises, as Dr Fowzia, Aafia’s sister said recently. Quoting a tradition, he said: "If a person sees an evil, then he should stop it with his hands, and if he can't then with his words, and if he can't then in his heart and this is the weakest form of faith." He said that the fact that the people turned up today is a sign of faith. The one who is mostly
tested is the one most beloved to Allah. No question that Dr Aafia has been severely tested and many people could not stand one day of what she was tested for. We ask Allah Subhanahu wa Taala to give her justice in this life and in the hereafter.
He said don't belittle this coming out for her to ask for justice, this will weigh heavily in the scales of justice on Judgment Day. Some of the things we should keep on doing in helping her case are:
speaking up like you all did today, sharing her story, making dua in the middle of night asking Allah Subhanahu wa Taala to free her as this is the sign that we truly care for her." The sisters then cried for her freedom, and gave a summary of the timeline of events of Dr Aafia's story, raised awareness
by giving leaflets to passers by walking and in their cars, and asked the guard at the Consulate to speak to the Consul, but no one from the Consulate responded. The protesters said: We will keep on asking for it and with the will of Allah, Dr Aafia would be freed soon.
However, Aafia Movement Pakistan leader and noted neurophysician of the country Dr Fowzia Siddiqui thanked the participants of the demo in Manchester. She said that the Free Aafia Movement is providing a joint platform for peace loving people and Muslims to promote moderate message of Islam. She hoped that after the release of Aafia, she would play a big role in promotion of education and healthcare not only benefitinh the people of Pakistan but the whole world.
