Islamabad : Facebook, Twitter on Tuesday evening in Pakistan was over-flown with hash tag ‘Security issues resolved’ as Pakistan stunned New Zealand with a five-wicket win at Sharjah Cricket stadium in a ICC T20I World Cup fixture.
Social media users and Pakistan fans worldwide were frustrated since New Zealand cricket team’s cancellation of their away-tour against Pakistan just minutes before its start last month, citing an alleged ‘security threat’.
Pakistan on Tuesday beat New Zealand in a much-awaited fixture at ICC T20I World Cup comprehensively by five wickets and registered their second straight win – making them strong contenders for a semi final birth.
New Zealand, while batting first could post 134-8 from their quota of twenty overs amidst career best spell by Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf. He took 4-22 from his four overs.
Pakistan while chasing their target lost their way a little bit in the mid-way, but were home later thanks to a blistering cameo by hard hitter Asif Ali, and sensible batting by experienced Shoib Malik.
As soon as Asif Ali drove the ball for couple of runs and Pakistan registered their win, the ‘key-board warriors’ took to social media and starting showing their pleasure of Pakistan’s thumping victory by posting ‘Security issues resolved’ tweets and posts on twitter and other social media platforms.
A post by the official facebook page of New Zealand cricket team ‘Blackcaps’, revealing that Pakistan had beaten their side, reached 289000 comments, and majority of comments were with a hash tag ‘Securityissuesresolved’.
Pakistan cricket fans and cricket Diaspora was feeling frustrated as New Zealand government had directed its team to leave Pakistan minutes before the commencement of much-awaited historic tour, leaving Pakistan fans in disbelief and frustration.
