SARGODHA: Six faculty members of Sargodha University made their eminence among the top 2% researchers in a global list compiled by Prof. John Ioannidis of Stanford University and his team. The list featured the world’s top 2% scientists in numerous disciplines; all achievers on the list have been nominated based on the international evaluation of their research work, and are ranked based on either the life-long citation impact of their work till the year 2021 or the citation impact of their work for the single calendar year of 2020-21.
The exhaustive list based on career has more than 186,000 scientists, doctors and engineers with 127 scientists from Pakistan, while the list compiled on the basis of single year citation impact includes more than 190000 scientists of the world.
The faculty members from Sargodha University who received global recognition life-long and single year citation impact for their contribution in research, include, Prof. Dr. Farooq Anwar from Institute of Chemistry, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nawaz Tahir and Dr. Muhammad Ashfaq from the Department of Physics, Dr. Muhammad Adnan, Prof. Dr Shoaib Akhtar and Dr Abdul Malik from Faculty of Pharmacy.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Saleem Mazhar congratulated the faculty members on receiving due recognition for their scientific contribution in their respected fields and appreciated their efforts for elevating the global profile of the university. Prof. Dr. Farooq Anwar, Director ORIC and Director Institute of Chemistry, is listed in both categories of scientists for his outstanding contribution in the field of ‘Analytical Chemistry.’ While sharing his feelings on the prestigious achievement, Prof. Dr Farooq Anwar expressed that it is an era of interdisciplinary research and scientists should mainly focus on productive research with tangible outcomes towards the society.
It is worth mentioning here four scientists from Sargodha University were also featured on this list last year. Every year, Sargodha University increase the incentivization of research to accelerate research productivity. Through progressive agenda of reforms, Sargodha University is emerging as one of the highest seats of learning in the higher education sector of Pakistan.
