New Zealand came to Pakistan after 18 years only to leave the country a few minutes before the scheduled game. It nibbed in bud all the hopes and expectations for revival of International Cricket in Pakistan. As expected, it received worldwide criticism from both cricketers and the fans. However , the nation was left with multiple questions as to what compelled Kiwis to pull out from Pakistan at the last minute. A faction of people believed it was the climate of uncertainty created in the aftermath of the Taliban takeover. As the group is notorious for terrorist attacks and Pakistan exposed to the threats , Nzl PM sought to call her team back, backing up on intelligence reports. Another faction believed India’s hand was behind the tarnishing image of Pakistan . To support this view , many articles circulated on social media. Yet there was another factor which wasn’t considered , the cat was killed by extensive care. To explain , the locals reported the city was militarized and security was overwhelmingly strict . To some people, it presented a scenario of curfew. If it frightened even the locals , Kiwis can be expected to have been petrified by the over-guarded stadium and the surroundings. It could have impacted them psychologically as if they were there for a war rather than a cricket match. It could have been another reason why they took the decision at the eleventh hour. To be precise , it was an immature decision to cancel the series at the last minute. Many teams and International Players have already played in Pakistan which was possible owing to the skilled security services of Pakistan. Nonetheless, it must be taken into account that sometimes the overdose of medicine increases the ailment. It seems the security itself became an impediment to provide pertinent environment for Cricket matches, and the cancellation of series was the reaction to the overdose. The responsible institutes and personnels must learn from this precedent else the future for Cricket seems bleak . Moreover, PCB must raise the case before the ICC and put efforts to ameliorate image of the country damaged by this woeful incident .
