By Sana Ullah,
Whether the “heart” is yours or someone else’s, both should be taken care of. Every year on September 29, including Pakistan, the world is associated with “World Heart Day”, which reminds us of how important the “heart” is to us, just like any other country. Therefore, a healthy nation is considered to be its foundation. Similarly, it is not possible to live without a “healthy heart”, so take special care of yourself and your loved ones, so that you can live a peaceful life. But sad to say, the general public is largely unaware of heart disease and its underlying causes, which need to be addressed at the governmental level. The Pakistan National Heart Association (PANAH) has been performing this duty for the last 37 years so that the protection of the heart can be maintained on a high level.
Health is a basic human right and one of the top priorities of any government. Choosing a simple and balanced diet, walking and exercise is essential for a healthy life.Health is a priceless gift of nature, the value of which we can appreciate, and if we do not appreciate, we will push ourselves towards diseases.
Reviewing the historical background of World Heart Day, the day is celebrated every year on September 29, with the aim of raising awareness about heart disease and overcoming its negative effects. Introduced by Antoni BayƩs de Luna, President of the World Heart Federation in 1999, its first event was held on September 24, 2000, and it was decided that World Heart Day would be celebrated on the last Sunday of September every year. But the Pakistan National Heart Association (PANAH) has been doing this since 1984.
But just celebrating World Heart Day doesn’t do anything, the information provided on this occasion, if not acted upon, assumes that you have decided to kill yourself. On January 26, 2021, the Annual Cardiology Conference was held at Aga Khan University, in which it was stated that one in four middle-aged adults in Pakistan suffers from heart disease, which is the leading cause of death in the country. Men and women are equally susceptible to the development of heart disease,Heart disease affects not only men but also women equally. The risk of dying or becoming seriously ill from heart disease is higher in most women, mainly due to lack of timely diagnosis or treatment. Women with diabetes are more likely to die of heart disease than men with diabetes. The statistics on heart disease are alarming, and the biggest concern is that one person in Pakistan is having a heart attack every other minute today.50% of deaths occur between the ages of 40 to 50, which is called productive age.If not controlled in time, heart disease will not only increase, but economic and social problems will also increase. There is also a shortage of female cardiologists in Pakistan. Only 60 female cardiologists are considered in Pakistan.Lack of awareness about heart disease in women at different levels of the healthcare system and lack of female specialists is detrimental to patients seeking timely care, which is in dire need of consideration. On June 11, 2021, the World Health Organization (WHO) identified cardiovascular disease as the leading cause of death worldwide. An estimated 17.9 million people died of heart disease in 2019, accounting for 32% of all deaths worldwide.Eighty-five percent of these deaths were due to heart attacks and strokes.More than three-quarters of deaths from heart disease occur in low- and middle-income countries. If tobacco use, unhealthy diet, sugary drinks (SSB) are given up in your life, you can be prevented from suffering from many dangerous diseases including heart, stroke, obesity. If you stuck off tobacco, unhealthy foods, sugar sweetened beverages (SSB)from your life ,So many dangerous diseases including heart, stroke, obesity can be prevented to a great extent.Children with adults also suffer from heart disease,According to the Pakistan Children’s Heart Foundation, about 60,000 children are born with heart disease in Pakistan every year, and a large number of these children are unable to access treatment due to lack of financial resources.
Heart Diseases and their Cure in their place, but if the causes of heart disease are prevented in time, they can prevent their loved ones from dying at the hands of the heart. The message of PANAH is to use a balanced diet, appropriate Exercise, avoid smoking and sugar sweetened beverages (SSBs), so you stay away from stress and can be live with strong Heart.
