Environment friendly measures are taken as per PM Khan’s directions: Asad


Lahore:  Provincial Minister for Housing Malik Asad Khokhar visited PHA Headquarters. A meeting of PHA Directors was held under the chairmanship of Provincial Minister for Housing in which DG PHA Jawad Ahmad Qureshi briefed on the steps taken to improve the work of marketing, finance and horticulture departments of the authority. The meeting discussed in detail the project launched by the authority in the city. The DG PHA briefed on the steps taken to establish and maintain the Miyawaki forests. On the occasion, Provincial Minister for Housing Malik Asad Khokhar said that environment friendly measures are being taken across the country as per the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan. Miyawaki forests are being planted in different cities of Punjab including Lahore. PHA should use all its resources for Clean and Green Lahore. The performance of the authority’s marketing, finance and horticulture departments should be further improved. DG PHA Jawad Ahmad Qureshi and his entire team deserve congratulations on the success of the Plant for Pakistan campaign. Provisional Minister of Housing Malik Asad Khokhar also ordered immediate action against illegal advertising boards. Action should be taken against illegal advertising boards from today. Working and honest officers should be appointed to important positions. Strict action should be taken against corrupt officials. He said that new projects should be launched to enhance the beauty of the city. On the direction of Chief Minister Punjab, DG PHA has been directed to come up with a special plan for beautification of Lahore. If there is a single illegal board, the officer will not remain in the seat. An ultimatum of 15 days has been given, strict action should be taken. He said that crackdown would be carried out with the help of police and district administration. He said that the financial deficit would be met by the department itself. Briefing the provincial minister on the occasion, DG PHA Jawad Ahmad Qureshi said that show cause notices have been sent to those involved against 106 illegal boards. Geo-tagging of billboards and sky signs is being done. Files and receipts and other records will be digitalized. LED steamers will be installed on new roads in Gulberg and Johar Town. The green surcharge was discussed at the PHA board meeting. We will send a summary to the Chief Minister for green surcharge.
