VC Mansoor Akbar and professors visit PARC Multan

Islamabad,     (Parliament Times) : The honourable Vice Chancellor of Bahauddin Zikiriya University Multan Professor Dr. Mansoor Akbar Kundi alongwith Dr. Bhaba and Dr. Ummad ud Din Proffessor Faculty of Agriculture (FAST) BZU, Multan visited the PARC Research & Training Station, BZU Multan. The Honourable Vice Chancellor and all other experts visited the IPM lab in which they observed the rearing of Sitotroga cereallelaand Chrosopyrilla and preparation of Trichogramma cards for Biocontrol of Sugarcane, pulses and vegetables

During visit, the delegates witnessed the research work on Trichogramma card given to farmers and students of BZU Multan for the control of insects in Sugar Cane, Vegetables, sunflower and pulses. Mr. Mumtaz Hussain Director PRTS Multan briefed him about the various field trials regarding various National trials particularly Sesame NUYT, Guar Trial, and Integrated Management of mungbean at the experimental area of the Station. He also briefed that PARC is building the capacity of farmers through conducting Farmers Field Trials on various field and horticultural crops in Multan, Khanewal, Vehari, Layyah and Lodhran & Bahawalpur.

The VC BZU Multan was informed also informed that Station is conducting National Uniform Yield Trials of Oilseeds (Rape seeds, Mustard & Taramira) Pulses (Chickpea & mungbean) and wheat agronomic trials in collaboration with various National Coordinators (Oilseeds, Pulses & Wheat)at PARC & Program Leader at NARC under the leadership and technical guidance of Mr. Mumtaz Hussain, Director/PSO, the station emerged as strong National Collaborator in the area and is continuously engaged in the collaborative experimentation for good will of National Agricultural Research System (NARS).

Mr. Mumtaz Hussain Director PRTS Multan told that BZU & PRTS will work together through the PARC’s ALP funded project. He also shared that PRTS will work for the “Integrated Management of various Horticultural Crops particularly Mango in the region”. In future, Department of Plant Pathology, BZU Multan and PRTS Multan will work together for raising disease resistant Mango Nursery to provide it to the Mango farming community.

At the end, VC BZU thanked Mr. Mumtaz Hussain Director PRTS, Multan and ensured his kind support for conducting research work for farmers of the area in collaboration with Faculty of Agriculture &Agri Graduates BZU with the integrated approach for uplifting resource poor farmers in Southern Punjab.
