LAHORE /MIRPUR (AJK) : Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) and Pakistan Army were declared joint champions as both teams secured same points in team event of the 52nd National Gymnastic Championship. The 2-day championship was concluded last evening at Gujranwala. Pakistan Army was defending the title in the championship.
Besides winning gold medal in the team event, WAPDA also won gold medals in individual events, including parallel bar by Afzal, vaulting bar by Nawaz and high bar by Shah Jehan. WAPDA also got four silver, and three bronze medals in the championship.
As many as nine teams i.e. WAPDA, Pakistan Army, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Sindh, Higher Education Commission, Pakistan Police and Pakistan Railways participated in the championship.
It is worth mentioning that WAPDA is national champion in 36 sports events (21 men and 15 women) and runners up in 18 (10 men and seven women).
