Qatar’s Ambassador calls on Sanjrani to discuss bilateral matters

ISLAMABAD,   (Parliament Times) : Ambassador of Qatar Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Faisal Al-Thani called on the Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani at the Parliament House on Thursday. Matters of bilateral significance, regional and international importance were discussed during the meeting.

The Chairman Senate, while welcoming the Ambassador of Qatar, observed that Pakistan attaches high importance to its friendly relations with Qatar. The two countries have stood by each other in difficult times, he said. Sanjrani added that Corona Pandemic has created an extraordinary situation globally and regionally and a concerted effort is needed to control the Pandemic. The government of Pakistan is making every effort to control the virus.

The Chairman Senate highlighted the importance of adopting a joint strategy to sustain economic activities during the Pandemic. He said that the two countries have enjoyed an exemplary cooperation in the IPU, Asian Parliamentary Assembly and other important fora. “Bilateral cooperation at such forums shows mutual trust” he maintained

Chairman Senate stressed that Pakistan provides conducive environment for investment and there are vast investment opportunities especially in Gwadar. He emphasized Qatari investors can take advantage of investment opportunities in Pakistan. The Chairman Senate advised that investment in energy, infrastructure, mining and other sectors can boost economic activity.

Sanjrani urged that the ongoing atrocities and human rights violations by the Indian forces in occupied Kashmir have put the peace of the region at stake. The Chairman Senate said that Pakistan wants the Kashmir issue to be resolved in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people and the resolutions of the United Nations

The Chairman Senate observed that Pakistan is committed to transform fraternal relations into strong political and economic partnership and has introduced the most investor friendly policies for business

The Qatari Ambassador assured that Qatar values its relations with Pakistan. The Ambassador of Qatar thanked the Chairman Senate for warm welcome in the Parliament. The Chairman Senate extended best wishes to the Ambassador of Qatar.
