LAHORE: Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar has said that for the first time in the history of the country, practical steps are being taken for institutional reforms and opposition should also support the government on the issue of electoral reforms. The credit for saving Pakistan from economic bankruptcy goes to Prime Minister Imran Khan and his economic team and the government is also ensuring full transparency and merit in the universities.He was talking to the founding members of the Fourth Pillar Vigilant Media Watchdog,( an international organization for solving journalists’ problems , Rana Muhammad Shahbaz, Director Lahore Rao Nafasat, Chief Co-ordinator Sargodha Hafiz Mutasim Arjumand, Ahmed Wasim, Khalid Mansoor, Ashfaq Qadri, Muhammad Qalzum, Tariq Mirza and Bilal Bhatti and among others Governor’s coordinator Farooq Arshad was also present on the occasion at Governor’s House.During meeting, Farooq Mirza apprised Punjab Governor of the Fourth Pillar’s services rendered to journalists around the world, including the aims and objectives of the organization and also about the training of more than 400 journalists.Governor Punjab said that the training of journalists is an important step. He assured the members of the delegation that he would play his role in initiating training courses for journalists in other universities of Punjab including the Department of Journalism, Punjab University, adding that the PTI government believes in freedom of expression, but the media must also act responsibly. Governor Punjab appreciated the role of Fourth Pillar Media Watchdog in training journalists.Kanwal Amin, Vice Chancellor, University of Home Economics also called on him and briefed him on the affairs of the university and future plans. Talking on the occasion, Governor Punjab Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar said that as Chancellor he has appointed Vice Chancellors in all the universities on merit . He said that the PTI government has put an end to political interference in educational institutions and this is the reason that for the first time Pakistani universities are being placed in international ranking .
