ISLAMABAD : Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan has directed the federal ministers to hold regular meetings with the traders and stake holders to listen to their problems and proposals.
The presidents of major chambers of commerce called on the PM here Friday. The meeting was attended by the presidents and vice presidents of federation of Pakistan chambers and Karachi, Lahore, KP , Quetta, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Fiasalabad, Gujarat, Multan, Sargodha, Gwadar, Islamabad and Rawalpindi chambers.
The federal ministers Hammad Akhtar, Khusro Bakhtiar,, advisor to PM, Abdul Razzaq Dawood, SAPM Shahbaz Gull and governor State bank also participated in the meeting.
All the major chambers of commerce expressed their confidence on the steps taken for ease of doing business and business friendly policies of the government. The participants lauded about 4 percent GDP growth rate and increase in large scale production by 15 percent.
The participants of the meeting appreciated the Prime Minister and his economic team for attaining four percent GDP growth despite Covid-19, fifteen percent increase in large scale manufacturing, incentives for export industry and removal of hurdles, incentives for small and medium enterprises by the State Bank of Pakistan, and providing the business community opportunity to benefit from trade potential of Uzbekistan.
Congratulating the PM on surge in tax revenue, exports and foreign remittances they said business community is ready to pay taxes and it will work along with the government in connection with reforms.
Underscoring the importance of industrial growth for consolidation of national economy, the PM said reforms are underway for improvement in tax system.
He underlined that a strategy is being evolved for the development of tourism and a comprehensive agricultural plan for the development of agriculture sector.
