Shangla: disaster prone district, residents encountering constant threat

Shangla:   On the orders of Chief Minister, Chief Secretary and Provincial Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Director General PDMA Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sharif Hussain visited Shangla District and met Deputy Commissioner Shangla and other line department officials, and DC Conference Room An important meeting was held regarding relief and rehabilitation activities in the areas affected by the recent rains. The meeting was attended by Assisstant Commissioner, Additional Deptuy Commissioner(Finance & Planing) ADC Revenue and other concerned officers. The meeting reviewed the damage caused by recent rains in the district and ongoing rehabilitation and relief activities. Deputy Commissioner Shangla Hamid-ur-Rehman gave a detailed briefing on the ongoing activities, the Deputy Commissioner said, Shangla is a hilly and disaster-prone district, where most of the population lives in the mountains, where the risk of landslides is high, the roads connecting the upper areas are also closed in torrential rains, causing severe disruption to the local population. The Director General PDMA also assured the concerned departments to listen to the problems faced by them and resolve them immediately. After the meeting, Director General PDMA Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sharif Hussain accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Shangla visited the areas affected by the recent rains and reviewed the rehabilitation and relief activities and issued immediate instructions to assess the damage, and also met the victims. He assured that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government was with them and would continue to extend all possible cooperation to them.
