MIRPUR (AJK), (Parliament Times) : The ill-fated AJK Parliament Member Sardar Sagheer Ahmed Khan Chughtai, who lost his life in a road accident skidding into Jhelum river near Azad Pattan 11 days ago and whose body was recovered from Mangla dam here on Saturday, will be laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard in native village Bengoyeen in Rawalakot district on Monday – June 21, family sources have confirmed.Village Bengoieen is located 15 kilometer away of Rawalakot city on Muzaffarabad-Rawalakot Road.
Earlier, funeral prayers of Chughtai sahib and his driver Muhammad Saeed Akhter will be offered at Sardar Muhammad Ashraf Khan Stadium in Rawalakot city at 4.00 pm the same day – June 21 with full State honor, the authoritative sources told our AJK Correspondent Altaf Hamid Rao by telephone Sunday evening.
As reported earlier, the bodies of Sardar Sagheer Chughtai, also the nominee of PTI in scheduled July 25 AJK general elections from a Rawalakot district constituency, and his driver Muhammad Saeed from Mangla lake here on Saturday exactly 10 days after the tragic accident.
As reported earlier, the bodies of illustrious AJK politician and member of AJK Legislative Assembly Sardar Sagheer Ahmed Khan Chughtai and his 37-years-old driver Muhammad Saeed s/o Muhammad Akter of Naghman Pura, Bagh district, were Saturday appeared and recovered from Sukhiyaan pocket of Mangla dam reservoir near here.
Both of the bodies were found floating in the lake in the dam near ancient Ramkot fort located in middle of the giant reservoir of the country’s largest Mangla dam.
Rescue 1122 besides the Ambulances of Edhi rushed the site and dragged out of the deep-watered reservoir. The bodies were later shifted to the Mirpur Div. Headquarter Teaching Hospital for formal medico legal proceeding for onward movement to their native Rawalakot district for burial.
PTI AJK President and former AJK Prime Minister Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, besides large number of people including the PTI activists also rushed the site at the bank of Mangla dam during recovery of the bodies from the reservoir.
Earlier the body of Ehtesham, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of ill-fated Sardar Sagheer Chughtai was recovered from the rivers fall at the Mangla dam near Dadayal four days ago.
The unfortunate Member of Azad Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly and Candidate of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf for Scheduled July 25 AJK General Elections, Sardar Muhammad Saghir Chughtai besides three other persons, lost their lives as his vehicle, besides another car, skidded into Jhelum river, after head on collision with the above car near Azad Patan in Kahuta Sub division of Rawalpindi when he was on way to Rawalakot from Rawalpindi on June 10.
Besides all the four bodies including both of the vehicles could not be traced immediately from the fast speeding currents of the deep river at the site despite hectic efforts by the rescue teams.
All the four bodies, however, have so far been recovered from the river.
Sardar Saghir Ahmed Khan Chughtai was nominated as Candidate of the PTI from AJK’s Electoral Constituency LA-22 Rawalakot, Poonch Division, for AJK Legislative Assembly Elections scheduled to be held on July 25 this year.
Chughtai had, in the recent past, parted ways from the All Jammu & Kashmir Muslim Conference, and joined the PTI AJK to contest the scheduled AJK elections.
