MUZAFFARABAD, (Parliament Times) : Under the Crop Maximization Program cultivation and preparation of modern varieties of maize seeds is in progress, throughout Azad Kashmir. This program has been started for 03 years under which modern seeds will be sown in 480 acres in phases all over Azad Kashmir. This year, 160 acres will be cultivated.
According to details, seeds of modern variety will be sown on 25 acres of Muzaffarabad district. Unheadlineder this program, modern varieties of seeds are being procured from various research centers in Pakistan and cultivated, after which seeds will be produced on their own. In this regard, the staff of Agriculture Extension Center Kahorri planted seeds of modern variety on 40 kanals of land at Parsacha under the supervision of Agriculture Officer. On this occasion, he also trained the landlords regarding this crop and instructed them to achieve significant results from it.
Speaking at the occasion, Assistant Director/In-Charge of the program Waqas Abdullah said that Agriculture department is ensuring full support to landlords. Under the Crop Maximization Program, cultivating modern varieties of seeds and producing good quality varieties on their own will be an important step towards development in the agricultural sector. Landlords can make significant use of this scheme which will not only meet their needs at the local level but will also enable the agriculture sector to play its full role in improving the state’s economy, he added.procured
