DUKI: “Pakistan Red Crescent Society has been working in health sector in far-off Duki district of Balochistan since 2019. Besides holding free medical camps in remote areas, on the directives of Deputy Commissioner, 80% of the PRCS staff has been involved in vaccination against COVID-19 in the district,” said District Coordinator PRCS Zafran Ali Khan Luni while talking to this scribe.
He said, routine immunization has been ensured at five Basic Health Units (BHUs), where doctors and other medical staff are present round the clock at the health facilities. Medicines worth millions of rupees are also being provided to all BHUs on monthly basis. Moreover, he said ten motivators are working on motivation and mobilization in the district, while twenty vaccinators are performing their duties in vaccinations including routine ammonization.
“PCRS helps the people in case of emergency and natural calamities. Free medical camps have also been set up in the four targeted union councils of the district since April, where senior doctors examined thousands of poor patients so far free of cost and provided them with free medicine,” adding, free medical camps will be organized also in future, so that the people of remote areas could have easy access to the best health services at their doorsteps. Luni vowed.
Meanwhile, tribal leader Sardar Masoom Khan Tareen who inaugurated the recent free medical camp, highly appreciated the endeavors of PRCS to mitigate sufferings of ailing patients living in remote and backward areas of the district, where majority of the people do not have access to health services. Tareen flanked by Zafran Ali Khan Luni and PCRS officials visited the camp and inspected the facilities provided to the people at the camp.
“Free medical camp in areas lacking basic facilities would not only ensure health care to the area people at their doorstep but would also overcome health issues and control several chronic and seasonal diseases,” Tareen expressed hope.
