Food wastage is one of the major problems faced globally. According to a report of FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization), half of the fruits and vegetables produced are wasted. Moreover, one third of food produced for human consumption goes wasted; this is about 1.3 billion tonnes. Whereas, thousands of people sleep hungry daily in the world. The food wasted daily can serve billions of people who are dying owing to hunger. Another report shows that 40% of food is wasted in Pakistan and 870 kg of food in a single Islamabad hotel is wasted each day. The same amount of food wasted can satisfy the hungry stomach of a common man. I never bothered myself to think about food wastage; but, when it was being wasted in front of my own eyes then I searched about it. The reports and information on food wastage astonished me.It is really a serious problem. If the government of Pakistan does not work on it, it will pose serious threats to the state. There are many ways to control food wastage. They just need implementation. The first way is to reuse or recycle. We should use what we need. We should not use more than our need. We should use food cautiously and carefully.
