MIRPUR (AJK), (Parliament Times) : A 30-member delegation of National Defense University Islamabad comprising 12 friendly countries Wednesday visited AJK’s metropolis and met the Additional Chief Secretary (General) of Azad Jammu Kashmir Dr Asif Hussain, it was officially said.
The delegation was led by the Air Commodore Waqar Ali, an AJK government spokesperson told this Correspondent Wednesday night.
Dr Asif Hussain briefed the delegation about the administrative and political set up of Azad Kashmir and replied to the question of the participants.
The Azad Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan told the delegation that Azad Jammu Kashmir has a better administrative set up and a master plan has been prepared to meet the future challenges, the spokesperson said.
He said the state is on the road to progress and prosperity in view of professional civil service.
The Chief Secretary told the delegation that Kashmiri refugees who had migrated from Occupied Kashmir have been settled in various part of Pakistan.
Twelve seats of Azad Kashmir legislative Assembly have been reserved for Jammu and Kashmir refugees settled in Pakistan and have been representing their people in the legislative Assembly effectively.
He said the people of Occupied Kashmir have been facing the worst king of atrocities at the hands of brute Indian forces in Occupied Kashmir and due to Indian forces firing at the line of control and Indian repressions the people of occupied Kashmir have forced to migrate from Occupied Kashmir and took refuge in Azad Kashmir.
He said Pakistan government has intensified its diplomatic efforts and have effectively projected the plight of the Kashmiri people at international level to apprise the international community about the Indian forces atrocities and prevail upon them to stop the killings of innocent Kashmiri people who have been struggling for realizing their internationally recognized right to self determination.
The Additional Chief Secretary General told the delegation that the 525 kilometer area of the state comprising the line of control and government of Pakistan has been providing funds to extend basic amenities of life to the people living close to the line of control including education, health and social welfare sectors.
