RAWALPINDI, (Parliament Times): Commissioner Rawalpindi Capt (retd) Muhammad Mahmood has said that tenders for Rawalpindi Ring Road project will be opened on April 12 while a committee comprising experts will be announced on April 5 to open and review the tenders. In this regard, the final decision on the names of the experts in the committee will be made by March 31. He said that various government departments and agencies including Rawalpindi Development Authority, Finance Department, NUST and UET Taxila, CDA, National Highway Authority, Public Private Partnership Authority and Lahore Ring Road Authority have been requested to nominate experts for the Bid Opening and Evaluation committee.
He said this while presiding over a meeting to review the progress on Rawalpindi Ring Road project. Chairman Rawalpindi Development Authority Raja Tariq Mahmood, Director General RDA Abdul Sattar Essani, Deputy Project Director Muhammad Abdullah, Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue Rawalpindi Capt (retd) Muhammad Shoaib and other concerned officials were also present in the meeting.
Commissioner Capt (retd) Muhammad Mehmood said that the process of payment for land acquired for Rawalpindi Ring Road project is also in progress and payments have been made to 19% affectees in Rawalpindi district and 28% affectees in Attock district. This process will be intensified in the coming days. He said that obstacles in the process of payment in Rawalpindi district have been removed and significant improvement will be made in this regard in next few days.
Commissioner Capt (Retd) Muhammad Mehmood said that NOCs from 30 departments and agencies are required for Rawalpindi Ring Road out of which 26 NOCs have been obtained and action has been expedited for the remaining four. He said that the School Education Department, Forestry and Anhar Department have been asked to issue conditional NOCs.
Various issues related to Ring Road were also discussed in detail in the meeting.
