Committing suicide means to take your own life. Each year, 828000 people take their own lives. At least, 15 to 35 people end their lives in Pakistan on the daily basis. Additionally, it is not a new issue even though people before thousand years committed suicide. Surprisingly, it is prohibited in every religion, but it is unable to be stopped. Interesting to know, America, one of the richest and powerful countries is at the top to face the issue. Scientists have been trying to understand the human mind and still, there is no exact control to stop it. In contrast, people commit suicide due to different reasons such as hopelessness, depression, sexual abuse, relationship issues, financial and a few more. The suicide rate all over the world is higher in males than females. The reason is men do more work than women. Man faces financial pressure, depression, and stress. According to the world health organization (WHO), at least, 76.5% males and 23.5 % females committed suicide. Students from school 42.6 %, 23.5 were from college. And 22.1% were from universities. People use different methods to attempt suicide. For example, in past, there were no guns, so they used to jump in wells or hanged themselves on trees. According to a survey in 2015, 27.9% killed themselves with guns, (die quickly), 33.8% hanged themselves ( mostly with fans), 13.2 % took poison, 5.9 % jumped from high, 4.4 % burn themselves and only 1.5% cut their wrists. It might be interesting to know that why do people end up their lives; one of the reasons is Depression. This issue comes due to drug Addiction, genetic issue, stress, and sufferings which concludes the person’s decisions to end up his life. Recently, Sushant Singh, one of the famous Bollywood film stars killed himself as he was depressed. He had a lot of money, a lot of respect with a huge number of lovers, but depression kills rich people too. The second man, a Baloch in Dubai committed suicide before few months because he was depressed. As he said in his recordings before he kills himself, “I can’t live in this world and it is better to die.” one of the causes is we are far from each other due to technology, and no one is ready to listen to us what we want. Secondly, it is shameful to say that we have a mental disease. Even though studying about mental health is considered shameful in Pakistan. Hopelessness is another cause to people for killing themselves. A survey in Pakistan was done in 2015-2016 which showed that more than 300 people per year experience hopelessness due to unemployment, extreme poverty at least 6% of them have attempted suicide. Interestingly, people who believe in God have less chance of attempting suicide. The reason is that those people hope in God. Most of the people who lose hope are old people who have much spare time. Another reason is that many of their children do not respect them. Recently, one man in Awaran committed suicide who was unable to be listened to by his children. What is more, financial pressure compels people to end up their lives. A report shows that many people borrowed money and could not return them which becomes their cause to commit suicide. As one man in Awaran in 2010 hanged himself as he was broke and could not pay the cash; he had taken. Relationship in every culture is important and the most aspect. Additionally, there are also issues in most people’s lives with relationships. People kill each other for relationships, and people kill themselves too due to relationships. Breakups in Europe countries are common which is a cause of suicides. For example, Markey, an American boy committed suicide. Who had written a letter, “She had left me who I loved too much. Know I want to kill myself, so she will not face any problem keeping another relationship with a new boy.” Another cause is toxicity between family members. They fight each other and become mental patients which is also a way to compel someone totake his or her own life. As one of the ladies says, “A woman hanged herself because his husband used to fight with her.” One of the important factors is sexual abuse because of which people can take their lives. As per a survey, of 6000 adults, 22% was raped and most of them attempted suicide. One boy from Gwadar in 2019 committed suicide when he was raped and blackmailed by some of his friends. Tracy Shelvey, an American woman jumped from a building when she was raped. One woman committed suicide in Balochistan when Sikander Zehri a renowned local politican, raped her. Many cases have been hidden related to sexual abuse. The reason is that they say say to nobody and committed suicide. Many people take their lives every day and many attempt suicide. One of the important issues is that we don’t have a mental hospital. If we have then we are ashamed to say that we have a mental disease. According to a report, 90% of the people in Pakistan have mental disorders which include depression, stress, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, hopelessness, personality disorder, and numerous other disorders. These can be lower by psychologists, and psychiatrists who are very less in number. Another way is that we can compete with hopelessness by discussing our matters to others. A good relationship is needed whether with the partner or children. Thirdly, we can see that poverty is the biggest cause of suicides in Pakistan. Therefore, the government is requested to provide jobs to people which may contribute to lower the rate of suicides. Additionally, education for mental health should be mandatory for the children, so they would understand their minds and can have a better life. The government should consider mental health education necessary, it should provide jobs, give justice to the sexual abused people and encourage masses to visit psychiatrists or psychologists.
