Islamabad, (Parliament Times) : In pursuance of a project assigned to NPO on “Developing and Promoting Cottage Industry of Gilgit Baltista” as a part of national development package for GB, Chief Executive Officer, National Productivity Organization (NPO), Ministry of Industries & Production, Mr. Muhammad Alamgir Chaudhary met with Mr. Qurban Ali, Head / Incharge FPCCI Capital Office, Mr. Mehboob Robbani, President, Hunza Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mr. Mushtaq Hussain, Former Vice President, Gilgit Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Shafqat Karim, Former EC FPCCI, Ms. Rubbina, Mr., Rehmat Karim, Secretary General Hunza Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Engr. Zeeshan Abbas and others were also present on this occasion.
In meeting under discussion several projects and make consensus on trade promotion and mainly focused handicraft industry in Gilgit Baltistan
CEO NPO briefed the dignitaries regarding the working, mandate, and different projects of NPO & APO (Japan). APO Japan and NPO Pakistan are closely working together for Productivity improvement in Pakistan. CEO said the dignitaries that under Gilgit Baltistan development package the planning commission of Pakistan on direction of federal government of Pakistan has identified various sectors for the development and up gradation of GB. The GB package will bring economic revolution in GB leading to major developments in the region which will eventually improve the living standards of the people of GB. NPO has been assigned responsibility to develop PC-1 for one of the development project i.e “Developing and Promoting Cottage Industry of GB “as a part of the GB Development package. The objective of the project is to build the capacity of stakeholders of the selected Crafts to develop and promote the GB cottage Industry.
Muhammad Alamgir Chaudhry CEO NPO said that such programs would bring tremendous change in the fields of Industry, Trade, Agriculture and Services. Rising production costs is severing problem due to which our products cannot find their place in global markets and everyone need to a reduce production costs, but apparently this is not possible in the current situation, however, we can only reduce our production costs by improving our performance he added.
CEO NPO also discussed about his upcoming visit to GB for preparation of PC-1 and to conduct a need assessment meeting with different stakeholders in GB to identify the current issues & recommended interventions thereof.
NPO Pakistan was to provide awareness as well as necessary training facilities to increase the productivity. Muhammad Alamgir Chaudhry, CEO NPO also highlighted the objectives of the (NPO).
Qurban Ali, Chairman, FPCCI Capital Office, while appreciating the role of (NPO) in the fields of industry, public sector agriculture and services, said that FPCCI and all the chambers of Commerce and Industry of Gilgit-Baltistan are ready at to cooperate with (NPO).
Dignitaries show their full support and confidence over NPO for the successful execution of the Project and they appreciate the working style of NPO & APO (Japan) for offering a wide range of Productivity enhancement services. They said that this project will help them and different stakeholders related to handicraft industry.
GB Cottage industry would achieve competitive advantage to earn higher profits/Productivity through this project. The delegation offered that need assessment sessions in Hunza and Nagar Chamber will be hosted by both Chambers.
