University of Sargodha celebrates International Women’s day.

Sargodha:  To celebrate International Women’s Day 2021, a seminar titled “Women in
leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world” was held at Sargodha University on Monday. The event organized by the Department of Sociology and Criminology was aimed to mark International Women’s Day and call for the protection of women’s rights. The webinar was attended by Ms Amara Akram Ex-Station House Officer (SHO) Factory Area, Dr Zarina Qasim In-charge English Department, Ms Adeela Lecturer Law College, Mr Aqib President Pakistan Ideological Civilization (PIC), Mr Khubaib Vice President PIC, and the number of students. The seminar called all the women
to come together to fight against gender disparity and establish themselves as the invaluable members of society that they are. “Woman being symbol of courage and bravery, need to assert their status by utilizing their leadership skills” Ms Amara spoke on the occasion. Acknowledging the vital role of women played in every walk of life, she stated that women are equal segment of society and they are equally contributing to the human development. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Zarinan Qasim said
“Woman is not only a character but a complete institution.” Pakistani community raises voice against women rights violations louder than ever before, she said adding that women are actively taking part in every field at national and regional level which would enable them not only to protect their own rights but to raise voice for the rights of every woman. Ms adeela spoke that the purpose of celebrating this day was to provide awareness about the already given women rights provided by Islam. “We should feel proud the way Islam upholds and preserve the women rights” she added. Department of Sociology and Criminology said “Number of female students is on high and the University is doing its best within resources to empower female students.” He also informed that the students of Sociology and Criminology Department have set the twitter top trend on the day under the hash tag #women can lead. “International Women’s Day” celebrated for over a century now, is observed on March 8 every year. This day is a symbol to celebrate the historic journey women around the world have taken to better their lives.
