ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Economy Watch (PEW) on Saturday said the unanticipated defeat of incumbent finance minister Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh in the Senate elections has shaken the ruling coalition which is the outcome of the unpopular policies of the government.
The government should accept defeat which indicates that masses and their representatives on both sides of the political divide are not happy with the performance of the government, it said.
The finance minister should accept the defeat cheerfully and resign honourably while the government should stop blaming opposition for every disaster, said Dr. Murtaza Mughal, President PEW.
He said that it seems a no-trust move against the government as economic failures have resulted in increased poverty, unemployment, very high food inflation, increased taxes on the poor and high price of utilities.
Dr. Murtaza Mughal said that PTI should stop the practice of putting the entire blame of everything on former rulers.
