ISLAMABAD, (Parliament Times) : The Senate Standing Committee on Defence Production visited Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC), Kamra on Wednesday. Chairman Committee Senator Lt. General Abdul Qayyum HI (M) Retd while lauding the efforts of the officers said that PAC is a unique outstanding state of the art facility in the Third World which is not just manufacturing fighter aircrafts but is also procuring orders for exports. He was accompanied by Senator Nauman Wazir, Senator Lal Din and Senator Muhammad Akram along with Media and officers and officials of the Senate Secretariat.
Exploring various sections of the Mirage Rebuild Factory, the Avionics and Integration Facility and the CNC Manufacturing and Machining Centre; the Committee was informed that the Institution not only seeks to improve existing technology but focuses majorly on innovation and training. Sustainability is a core to all initiatives. Chairman Committee Senator Lt. General Abdul Qayyum HI (M) Retd said that PAC was working on 97 percent capacity and thereby conserving foreign exchange. He added that both manufacturing and Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO)facilities are efficiently operational. He asserted that establishment of Kamra Aviation Industries Limited under PAC’s Self-sustaining Public Limited Company is a great achievement.
