Government needs to restore confidence of hockey players: KHM



Rawalpindi, (Parliament Times):  The Chief Executive Officer of Knight Human Management (KHM)& Shalan GL Pakistan has said to regain our glorious past in the National game of Hockey; the government as well as private entrepreneurs must come forward to providing youth the facilities of the game in all urban and rural areas. Along with other sports, the government should also focus on the promotion of hockey.

He expressed these views while addressing the inaugural function of the 15th Annual Rana Akbar Ali Ghazi Memorial Hockey Tournament here today as a special guest. The organizing committee members of the tournament, President Chaudhry Abdul Hafeez, Chaudhry Azhar Iqbal, Abdul Wahab, dignitaries and a large number of people interested in hockey were present on the occasion.

Khalid Nawaz congratulated the organizers on hosting the tournament and said that hockey is our national sport in which we have a glorious past. Over the last few years, the focus on promotion of hockey has diminished, leaving our past far away. . “Our cities and villages are full of highly talented youth,” he said. If the government gives proper facilities and attention, these young people of ours can hone their skills in the game and regain our glorious past at international level.

He mentioned that from these youngsters, players like Hassan Sardar, Kaleemullah, Samiullah and such irreplaceable national heroes can be born who shall lit the name of Pakistan at International level. Khalid Nawaz appreciated the holding of Rana Akbar Ali Ghazi Memorial Hockey Tournament and said that promotion of such activities is a cause of national reconstruction and making the society healthy and those who make such arrangements actually do a great service to the society.

He said that in the modern age, to protect our youth indulging in negative activities like canker of drugs and misuse of technology, the promotion of games and other healthy activities should be our top priority.

Hockey Club President Chaudhry Abdul Hafeez, Chaudhry Azhar Iqbal and others also addressed the gathering and said that our aim is to save our young generation from negative activities and involve them in positive and healthy activities in which we are successful. Chief Guest Khalid Nawaz also gave prizes to the winning teams and their players in the opening matches.
