ISLAMABAD, (Parliament Times) : A meeting of the General Council of All Kashmir Newspaper Society was attended by AKNS members from all over Azad Kashmir on the occasion. Under the chairmanship of S. Muhammad Zahid Tabassum, Secretary General Raja Amjad Hussain performed the duties of stage secretary while Hafiz Sajid Mahmood recited the Holy Quran. Afzal Butt, Amir Mehboob, Sardar Zulfiqar Ali, Syed Abrar Haider, Khalid Chaudhry, Raja Kafil Ahmed, Zahid Baig, Tanveer Tanoli, Mohsin Khawaja, Younis Niazi, Javed Chaudhry, Nisar Ahmad Kayani, Raja Bashir Usmani, Sardar Hameed, Ghulam Raza Kazmi, Dil pazir Abbasi, Sajid Mehmood, Khawaja A. Matin, Zahid Bashir Chaudhry, Javed Iqbal, Mumtaz Ali Khaksar, Naqash Ali Abbasi, Abid Abbasi, Syed Dilawar Bukhari and others participated. While those who could not come attended by telephone due to personal reasons and supported all the decisions of AKNS including Khawaja Sarfraz Ahmed, Sardar Abid Siddique, Sardar Shafqat, Sherbaz Munir Chaudhry, Malik Amir Naveed, Raja Sohrab Ahmed and Zafir Baba are included. The meeting approved the AKNS Amendment Constitution 2021 while a Constitutional Committee headed by former President AKNS Amir Mehboob was formed to further amend the Constitution through mutual consultation. Raja Kafil Ahmed, Sardar Zulfiqar Ali from Muzaffarabad, Zahid Bashir and Khawaja Sarfaraz from Rawalakot are present in the meeting. Muzaffarabad Weekly, Smoke Weekly, and Neelam Times were given membership.
A new commitment was expressed to strengthen the state newspapers and the Government of Azad Kashmir was demanded to play its role in strengthening the state newspapers and the Government of Pakistan. It was demanded that advertisements be issued to the Kashmiri newspapers included in the media list of PID Islamabad on the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day on February 5. Azad Kashmir, Kashmir journalists who passed away at the meeting were founding members of AKNS. Special prayers were offered for the strengthening of AKNS at the end. It was expressed to work together for the success of Yasti newspapers, Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir and restrictions on media were strongly condemned.
