QUETTA: Sariab police claimed to have arrested twenty three drug smugglers and recovered hundreds of kilograms of hashish, heroin, opium and sheesha worth millions of rupees from their procession.
Superintendent Police (SP) Operation Sariab Division Zia-ul-Haq Mandokhail while addressing a press conference said that, in the last three months police during its crackdown against the drugs have recovered 648 kilograms of hashish, 44 kilograms of opium, 210 grams of heroin and 550 grams of sheesha and arrested 23 drug smugglers. The value of the seized drugs in the international market is millions of rupees.
SP Zia Mandokhail on the occasion resolved to root out the menace of drugs from the society in order to save the youth falling prey to the curse of narcotics. He directed the concerned police officials to take stern action against the drug sellers in their respective jurisdictions. He also stressed the need for collective efforts aimed at creating awareness about the use of drugs among the youth, so the menace could be completely eradicated from the society.
Highlighting the police responsibilities and performance he said, the police uniform was a symbol of the state. To ensure citizens’ security was the obligation of police. Strict action would be taken against drug paddlers and criminals in the provincial capital.
“As an institution police are responsible for maintaining public order and safety, enforcing law and preventing, detecting and investigating criminal activities”, he said, adding the police will act upon on zero tolerance policy and strict actions would be taken against the drug paddlers and criminals, the police officer vowed.
ASP Sariab Circle Akhlaqullah Tarar, SDPO Shaalkot Circle Captain (R) Qazi Ali Raza, SHO Sariab Haji Abdul Hai and SHO Satellite Town police station were also present on the occasion.
