Intelegentsia terms holding of Local Bodies elections in AJK to ensure vibrant role of Civic Bodies

MIRPUR,(Parliament Times): A detailed discussion held on a recently~published integrated Report titled “Local Government System in AJK, Background, Evaluation, and Way Forward” ~ At A Local Hotel Here On Saturday. It was very healthy and fruitful debate on the report o authiored by Young Kashmiri Scholar Dr. Waqas Ali.
Participants highly appreciated his effort and shared their detailed view on the significance of this issue. In fact this is one of the very first report published on the subject in AJK.
Former Chief Justice AJK Justice (Retd) Muhammad Azam, renowned, journalist, columnist and Analyst Ershad Mahmud, KIIR Chairman Altaf Hussain Wani, Station Director AK Radio Mirpur Muhammad Shakeel, Sr. Kashmiri Journalist Altaf Hamid Rao, JKPP Leader Syed Nishat Kazmi, PPP (SB) AJK President Ch. Munger Hussain, President Markazi Anjuman e Tajran Raja Khalid Mahmood and two of the MUST Varsity Students Representatives appreciated the REPORT on local Government SYSTEM in AJK and the due vibrant role of the elected civic bodies.
Ex CJ of the Supreme Court of AJK Justice (Retd) Azam Khan not only appreciated the author but also highlighted various aspects significance of local bodies in AJK.
Louding Dr. Waqas’s initiative to ink the comprehensive report on the due vibrant role of the CIVIC Bodies through the much~demanded LB elections in.AJK, Senior Kashmiri Journalist Altaf Hamid Rao stated that holding of local BODIES ELECTIONS could make the civic institutions more effective and vibrant to address the issues of the masses at local level regarding local progress and prosperity. Station Director Azad Kashmir Radio Mirpur Muhammad Shakeel while appreciating the report, said it might prove to be a strong source of guidance and encouragement for the stake holders especially the State Government to ensure the working of the civic institutions in true perspective through the much~needed local BODIES elections in AJK.
