RAWALPINDI, (Parliament Times) : Commissioner Rawalpindi Captain (retd) Muhammad Mehmood has directed the Rawalpindi Development Authority to prepare a feasibility report of the proposed Special Economic Zones on the Rawalpindi Ring Road project and said that the Rawalpindi Ring Road project is not just a road but a it is a multi-faceted project that, in addition to resolving traffic problems in Rawalpindi, will significantly improve the economy, boost industry and create jobs.
He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting on Rawalpindi Ring Road project at the Commissioner’s Office. The meeting was also attended by Director Finance and Planning Nazia Parveen Sindh, Project Director Ring Road Muhammad Abdullah, RDA officers and other concerned officials.
Commissioner Rawalpindi Captain (Retd) Muhammad Mahmood said that consultation with Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry regarding Special Economic Zones of Ring Road project is underway and consultation and cooperation with business community will be continued in all phases of feasibility. He said that after the survey of land acquired for the Ring Road project under the supervision of Revenue Department, the process of delimitation and identification was in full swing. He directed the concerned revenue authorities to expedite the process.
Commissioner Rawalpindi Captain (Retd) Muhammad Mehmood said that the draft agreement with National Highway Authority regarding Ring Road project about CPEC route is being reviewed and with the addition of this route the importance of Ring Road project will multipliy. He said that there was a plan to buy land in and around the loops of interchanes on the Ring Road project which the government could use for commercial purposes to increase revenue.
On this occasion, Commissioner Rawalpindi gave a detailed briefing on various technical and financial aspects of Korang Road project.
