Banigala encroachment case: SC orders CDA to make process of regularization of constructions transparent

Islamabad:   Supreme Court (SC) while ordering the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to make the process of regularization of constructions transparent has sought reply from it on contaminating the Korang Nullah water by housing society in Bani Gala encroachment case.

The court has also sought water quality report in respect of Korang Nullah by CDA,.

A 3-member bench of SC presided over by Justice Umar Ata Bandial took up Banigala Encroachment case for hearing Monday.

Justice Umar Ata Bandial remarked the conditions for setting up their own sewerage plant by housing societies should be included in NOC. The housing societies should be stopped from throwing polluted water in Korang Nullah.

He observed the plants installed on seasonal nullahs for treatment of water have not become functional. Treatment plant structure has been built but the plants have not been restored physically. There should be no discrimination in the process of regularization. The people have to face problems due to negligence of CDA.

The hearing of the case has been adjourned indefinitely.
