Mohammad Uzair Memon ;
Depression is a common and serious mental illness that negatively affects you how feel, the way you think and how you act. Fortunately, it is also treatable. Depression causes feelings of sadness/or loss of interest in activities you once enjoyed. It can lead to a variety of emotional and physical problems and decrease your ability to function at work or at home. People think depression is only sadness. People think depression is crying. People think depression is dressing black but people are wrong. Depression is the constant feeling of being numb. Being numb to emotions, being numb to lie. You wake up in the morning just to go back to bed again. Days are not really days; they are just annoying obstacles that need to be faced. And how do you face them ? Through medication, through smoking, through drugs, through cutting when you are depressed, you grasp onto anything that can get you through the day, That’s what depression is, not only sadness or tears, it’s overwhelming sense of numbness and the desire for anything that can help you make it from one day to next. In depression you act normal infront of people but when you are alone you fights with all those thoughts which go through your mind, when you are alone you cry like child, when you are alone you only think. In depression you are tired from all those people with whom you enjoyed once and went on many trips. Nowadays depression is very common among teenagers and adults, reasons are different, in teenagers main cause of depression is failing in relationships means break ups and in adults reason is different, Nowadays depression is the main cause of suicides. Depression can occur at anytime. Women are more likely than men to experience depression. Some studies show that one-third of women will experience a major depressive episode in their lifetime. “Depression is living in a body that fights to survive with a mind that tries to die.” (Ananymous).
