Mirpur, Islamgarh Population to Stage Mass Protest March on Sunday,
MIRPUR (AJK), (Parliament Times) : Population of the expatriates’ lake city of Mirpur and adjoining Islamgarh town are all set to stage a protest march simultaneously on Sunday – November 1st against inordinate delay in completion of the construction work of the mega over 2.50 kilo-meter long Mirpur-Islamgarh bridge, the longest-ever in South Asia over Mangla dam reservoir, lying abandoned because of non-completion for last over five years, organizers said.

THE CIVIL SOCIETY OF THE LAKE-CITY OF MIRPUR AJK REPRESENTING ALL SEGMENTS OF LIFE WILL STAGE A PUBLIC RALLY TAKING OUT A PROCESSION FROM CHOWK SHAHEEDAN IN THE CITY ON SUNDAY – NOVEMBER 1ST 2020, AT 10.00 IN THE MORNING TO PROTEST AGAINST INORDINATE DELAY IN COMPLETION OF THE CONSTRUCTION WORK OF MIRPUR-ISLAMGARH BRIDGE AND IN SUPPORT OF THE DEMAND FOR EARLY COMPLETION OF THE MEGA PROJECT BY THE GOVERNMENT”, the city elder and the key author of the scheduled protest program Justice (Retd) Muhammad Azam Khan, retired chief justice of Azad Jammu Kashmir told media here on Saturday.
Led By The City Elders Including Retired Chief Justice Of AJK Justice (R) Muhammad Azam Khan, President District Bar Association Qamar Mirza, Raja Zulfiqar Ahmed Advocate, Retired Secretary to AJK Govt. Engr. Muhammad Iqbal Ratayal Advocate, Sr. Journalist Altaf Hamid Rao, Riaz Inqlabi Advocate, Mian Sultan Mahmood Advocate, Sr. Banker Agha Shabar Hussain, Member AJK Bar Council Mrs. Nabeela Ayub, Business Community Elders including Sohail Shujah Mujahid and Raja Khalid Mahmood, Agha Sajaad Hussain, ex President AJKCCI Ch. Javed Iqbal and others will march to the site of the incomplete Mirpur-Islamgarh Bridge over the reservoir of Mangla Dam, organisers said.
An identical protest rally will be staged by the Civil Society of the adjoining Islamgarh town against the long delay in completion of the Mirpur-Islamgarh Mirpur – FAMOUSLY KNOWN AS RATHUAA – HARAYAM BRIDGE at northern side of the incomplete bridge – to press the government for completion of the gigantic project – lying abandoned because of its completion since past many years for the reasons best known to the AJK-Govt controlled Project Management Unit (PMU) of the State Public Works Department – besides the concerned higher authorities of the Governments of Pakistan and AJK State, they added.
