LAHORE,(Parliament Times): Prominent Kashmiri rights activist and chairman Jammu Kashmir Human Rights Commission Humayun Zaman Mirza has said that the United Nations should fulfill its moral and legal responsibilities to resolve Kashmir dispute peacefully. Mirza made these assertions while talking at a function held at Government College University Lahore. Lauding the sacrifices of Kashmiri people he said, “Kashmiris have a long history of sacrifices. Since 1988 tens of thousands of Kashmiris have scarified their lives for the noble cause of freedom from Indian subjugation”.
He said that the Indian occupation forces were responsible for the worst human rights violations in occupied Kashmir. He said that the Indian forces have wreaked havoc on the lives of Kashmiris under the garb of draconian laws such as AFSPA, Public safety act and other black laws. “Thousands of people have been forcibly disappeared by the Indian forces that have left behind a harrowing legacy of half-widows. He said that Kashmiri people were struggling for the right of self-determination in the light of UN resolutions adopted by India and Pakistan.
