KARACHI: Pakistan Muslim League-N leader Captain (retd) Muhammad Safdar has been detained by the police from a room of a private hotel.
According to the police, Capt Safdar, after being arrested for violating sanctity of Quaid’s mausoleum has been shifted to police station Aziz Bhatti.
The case of violating sanctity of Quaid’s mausoleum has been registered against PML-N leader Captain (retd) Muhammad Safdar, on Monday morning, the police said.
The case has been registered on the complaint of a citizen, Waqas, at police station Brigade. The case has been registered against 200 persons including Maryam Nawaz and Captain (retd) Muhammad Safdar, after the sit-in of Tehreek Insaf workers outside the police station.
According to the FIR, the case had been registered on Section 6 (convening of meetings or processions at the mausoleum), Section 8 (entry into mausoleum with weapon) and Section 10 (penalty for contravention of provisions) of The Quaid-i-Azam’s Mazar (Protection and Maintenance) Ordinance, 1971.
Capt (R) Safdar said on his arrest that, ‘I did nothing wrong, rather chanted the slogan “Madar-e-Millat” and “Vote ko izzat do” at the Quaid’s mausoleum.
The PML-N leader said that the slogan “Vote ko izzat do” has reached every house. We don’t hesitate from going to jails, opposition can try all their tactics, but we won’t allow the prohibition of vote, he expressed.
