RAWALPINDI: Environment Protection Department (EPD) has imposed ban on use of polythene bags all over district Rawalpindi and announced to launch crackdown against the shopkeepers who will be found violating these orders.
According to media reports the ban was clamped on use of polythene bags throughout Punjab province under the court orders. The shopkeepers were given time to abandon use of these bags within six months. This stipulated period has expired on September 30.
The environment protection department has decided to ensure imposition of ban with the assistance of police Red notices have been issued to all general stores, departmental stores, food centres, retailers, milk shops, vegetable and fruit sellers.
The crack down against the violators will be launched from October 12.
