MIRPUR (AJK): (Parliament Times) Azad Jammu & Kashmir Prime Minister Raja Muhammad Farooq Haider Khan Wednesday directed the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) and the Administration to take immediate effective measures to ensure the early restoration of all kind of traffic on the on the highways and subordinate roads which were blocked due to land sliding following the current torrential rains.
In a directive issued by the Prime Minister here to the SDMA on Wednesday, he urged the organisation to maintain close liaison with all the concerned departments to deal with any emergency.
“District and central control rooms should be made more vibrant to deal with any untoward situation”, he advised.
The Prime Minister also directed the AJK PWD to launch an emergency operation for the restoration of roads, lying closed due to the heavy rains in various mountains parts of the liberated area. “An alternate route be made available immediately for the smooth flow of traffic”, he advised.
Farooq Haider also directed the State PWD Highways Division to ensure the availability of heavy machinery round the clock besides focusing to immediately open the alternate routes to facilitate the people with uniterupted travelling during monsoon torrential rains.
