3 lost life in Karachi in rain related incidents


KARACHI:    3 persons are reported to have died in rain related incidents in different parts of Karachi city.
In the back drop of heavy downpour in Karachi, Hyderabad and different parts of Sindh, Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah has declared Rain Emergency across the province.

As per media reports relief and rescue operation is underway in various parts of the city after disastrous heavy rain of last night.
Army, Rangers and Pak Navy alongwith civil administration rescue teams are busy in evacuating people to safer places.
Pak Navy teams rescued people stranded in rain water in Dadabhai colony, Madina Town, Yar Mohammad Goth and other parts of the city.

Despite of declared rain emergency; people wade through a flooded street with submerged vehicles. The Lath and Thaddo dams in Karachi have overflowed after a day of heavy rain. Surjani Town, Saadi Town and Safoora Goth are all at risk of major flooding. Flooding has also been reported in the Malir River.
People residing along Malir River and Sukhan river were also shifted to safer places as water entered in residential areas.
National highway was inundated due to overflow of the Sukhan river disrupting the traffic flow heavily. .
The Lath and Thado dams have overflowed in Kirthar regions after heavy rains in Karachi, Pakistan Army teams have reached to help the civilians.
Rain affected localities also include DHA, Gizri, Kemari, North Karachi, Nazimabad, Saddar, Landhi, Airport, University Road, Faisal Base, Jinnah Terminal, Saadi Town, Quaid-e-Abad, Yousuf Goth, PAF Faisal, PAF Masroor and Gulshan Johar
