Islamabad: (Parliament Times) Pakistan Academy of Letters, (PAL) organized a discussion on “Tehreek-e-Azadi and Urdu Poetry”the occasion of online “Weekly Celebrations of Independence Day” was held. Presidium consists of Wajid Jawad and Dr. Muhammad Kamran. Yashb Tamana was the chief guest. Dr. Yousuf Khushk, Chairman, PAL thanked the guests and presented introductory notes. Hina Jamshed, Saira Iqbal, Dr. Khawar Nawazish, Dr. Farzana Kokab, Azam Kamal, Maqbool Gilani, Mahmood Al Hassan, Dr. Salahuddin Darwish, Dr. Tariq Hashmi, Sami Durrani, Shabbir Ahmad Qadri, Dr. Shagufta Hussain, Dr. Liaquat Ali and Dr. Tash Mirza presented articles. Wajid Jawad said that poets have played a key role in the movement of Pakistan. They wrote poems on the love of Nationalism and for the homeland.
Dr. Muhammad Kamran said that our writers and poets have played a leading role in the independence movement. There is no precedent for the way he evoked the passion of the people in their poems. Dr. Yousuf Khushk, Chairman, PAL, thanked the participants and said that the articles were read out in weekly Independence Day celebrations will be published from the PAL’s platform and a full recording is being made which will be presented on PAL’s Facebook. To pass on these writings to the new generation needs to be made aware of all the stages of the struggle for independence. There are 72 languages in Pakistan. The literature of these languages is like an asset. We have successfully hosted literature sessions in major languages. The Chairman Academy informed the details of all the celebrations.
