Islamabad,(Parliament Times): The foundation of Tehreek-e-Pakistan is still in the form of poems of poets. The struggle of those writers who were associated with the freedom movement can never be forgotten. Similarly, wherever the freedom movement took place, the writers took full part in this struggle and awakened their nation. These views were expressed by Ghazala Saifi, Parliamentary Secretary for National Heritage and Culture Division in a program on “Freedom in World Literature” organized by the Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) in connection with the online “week Independence Day Celebrations”. She was the guest of honor at the event. Dr. Yousuf Khoshk, Chairman, PAL presented an introductory note.
The special guest was Dr. Samina Awan. World-renowned scholars Dr. Khalil Toqar (Turkey), Dr. Ludmila Vessiliexa (Russia), Soya Manay (Japan), Dr. Ibrahim Muhammad Ibrahim (Egypt), Dr. Mohammad Kioumarsi (Iran), Dr. Heinz Werner Wessler (Sweden) and Dr. Maroof Shah (Srinagar) presented articles on the freedom movement and the spirit of freedom in the literature of their countries. Program moderated by Farooq Adil.
Ghazala Saifi said that human beings are naturally like free so human beings naturally want freedom so it is not possible for them not to resist oppression. The slogan “Accession to Kashmir with Pakistan” is also the voice of freedom of Kashmir’s and they have been waiting for 72 years for the international community to hear their voice. Our government has raised this issue internationally and the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, has conveyed the voice of Kashmir at every forum and all the world are now taking this issue seriously.
She said that he was addressing the people who are ambassadors of Urdu and Pakistan all over the world. They were not born on Pakistani soil but looking at their services to Urdu and Pakistan, it seems that they love Urdu more than us and are much more Pakistani than us.
The Parliamentary Secretary said that the PAL under the patronage of Federal Minister Shafqat Mahmood is looking very dynamic. The PAL has started new projects. Dr. Yousuf Khushk will be moving forward in a good way as the spirit of all these projects.
Dr. Yousuf Khushk, Chairman, PAL in his introductory remarks, thanked the participants and said that 72 languages are spoken in our country out of which literature is being created in 52 languages. PAL tried to bring the literature written about the Tehreek-e-Pakistan in different languages to the new generation during the Independence Day celebrations. The purpose of the week celebrations was to introduce the new generation to the unparalleled sacrifices made by our elders for the freedom struggle. Writers have played an important role in the freedom movement. Allama Iqbal dreamed and Quaid-e-Azam put it into the implement. There is a poet behind this thinking.
He said that this was the first time that separate messages were sent to the writers by the President of Pakistan and the Prime Minister of Pakistan on the occasion of Independence Day.
Chairman PAL that the PAL would carry out literary projects under the patronage of Federal Minister Shafqat Mahmood and we would also have the support of Parliamentary Secretary Ghazala Saifi.
Dr. Samina Awan said that when it comes to literature, language and culture of the Pakistan Independence Movement, it connects us to the knowledge of Islam. Our freedom movement is a story that connects other countries with the freedom movement. The weekly celebrations of PAL are a great step forward in helping the younger generation learn about their history.
