Journalistic bodies give 3-day ultimatum to PID for suspension of Asim Kachi

Islamabad,(Parliament Times): Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ), Rawalpindi Islamabad Union of Journalists (RIUJ), Kashmir Journalists Forum, Central Union of Journalists (CUJ) and other journalistic bodies have given three days ultimatum to Press Information Department (PID) for suspension of its officer Asim Kachi, who is working as Director PID. Asim Kachi was involved in violence and registration of bogus First Information Report (FIR) against senior journalist and editor of Daily Sadah-e-Chinar, Ijaz Abbasi.

Journalistic bodies demanded this while doing massive protest in front of PID building in Islamabad. The protest was addressed by former president PFUJ Afzal Butt and former presidents National Press Club Shakeel Qarar and Shakeel Anjum as well other prominent leaders of journalistic bodies and joined by a large number of journalists of twin cities.

President of Pakistan People Party Parliamentarians (PPP) Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Chaudhry Latif Akbar and General Secretary PPP AJK Faisal Rathore also addressed protesters and condemned acts of Asim Kachi.

Journalistic bodies announced that if PID didn’t take any action against misbehavior and violence of its officer Asim Kachi, they would protest in front of Parliament House in next round. They also demanded from Minister of Information Shibli Faraz to take appropriate notice of said matter.
