Karachi,(Parliament Times): Aafia Movement Pakistan leader and noted neurophysician of the country Dr Fowzia Siddiqui has said that coronavirus has badly spread in the FMC Carswell Jail of Texas, USA, where Pakistani woman scientist Dr Aafia Siddiqui is imprisoned, adding other countries are getting released their prisoners from the American jail in wake of coronavirus pandemic on compassionate grounds, but the rulers of Pakistan are simply wasting this opportunity to get released Aafia.

In a statement here Wednesday, she said Aafia has been spending long years in imprisonment due to the apathy of Pakistani rulers. She said the jail in which Aafia is kept is notorious for its worst conditions. She said the mother, children and other family members of Aafia Siddiqui are worried a lot about this situation.

She said recently a woman prisoner; Lea Ann Steitle-Blystone was released from this jail because her country raised voice for her. She said Lea in social media post has described this jail as: Hunger, isolation, dangerous heat, Covid-19. She has further written: Prison conditions have never been worse. People in prison are people. I lived this horror at FMC Carswell. I am only home because FAMM helped me get compassionate release.

Dr Fowzia said the jail wing in which Aafia is imprisoned has more than 65 Covid positive prisoners, while thousands of other Covid positive prisoners are present in other wings of the jail. She said there are news that hundreds of prisoners have already died. She said the condition of the US jails regarding coronavirus is dangerous. She said in Pakistan, Dr Aafia Siddiqui is known as the daughter of the nation and her detention is such poor and dangerous conditions show the level of apathy and insensitiveness of the Pakistani rulers, and ill luck of the Pakistani nation.

She prayed for the life and safety of Dr Aafia and also for her early release. She said the Aafia family often informs the rulers and the nation about the plights of Dr Aafia. She said the spread of coronavirus in the US jails has once against provided an opportunity to the Pakistani rulers but they still seem to waste it.
