Zafar Iqbal;
The Corona Virus pandemic has its multiple effects on human life ranging from physical to psychological and material to technological challenges. The rapid spread of pandemic is continuously wrecking the world. This causes the most serious harm to the educational opportunities around the globe. The lockdown and required physical distancing are main hindrances in imparting education in a conventional way. In the wake of COVID-19 schools and colleges have been closed till May 31, 2020 as per decision of the Govt. This period will be treated as summer vacations. In this scenario, some private school systems are working for online classes and few have commenced distance learning within their own means. There is uncertainty prevails everywhere. The Higher Education commission Pakistan is vigilant enough to sensitize the management of all the universities for online readiness to save the precious academic career of the students. Keeping in view, the fact, that every disaster brings opportunities with it, the HEC is exploring the ways to combat the pandemic without any further disruptions to the academic activities of the universities. For this very purpose, policy guidelines are being prepared and disseminated to the universities and Degree Awarding Institutes. To accomplish this uphill task, the Vice Chancellors and senior academicians are consulted and taken into loop to prepare comprehensive programmes for distance learning and online readiness.
