Washington: A prominent Islamic advocacy organization has criticized US President Donald Trump’s divisive attempt to target American-Muslims during coronavirus pandemic.
According to media reports the Executive Director of Washington-based Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), Nihad Awad said President Trump’s bigoted attempt to use American-Muslims as a political football just before holy month of Ramadan was insulting.
Awad said instead of fanning the flames of bigotry to distract public from his own failures, the President should focus on combating continued spread of the coronavirus.
Awad said CAIR has also repeatedly expressed concern about his anti-Muslim rhetoric and Trump administration’s Islamophobic, white supremacist and racist policies and appointments.
