ATTOCK: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis Zulfi Bukhari has said that has said present government is taking drastic measures to combat Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19). He said this while presiding over a meeting here to review the measures taken in for preventive measures, treatment and control of virus besides to provide relief to the poor segments of society in the wake of coronavirus pandemic at deputy commissioner office in Attock on Thursday. Deputy commissioner Ali Annan Qammar, district Police officer Khalid Hamdani, heads of health, revenue and other departments were also present on this occasion. While elaborating the government’s measures to contain the coronavirus, he said that that a relief team made up of the lockdown hit segment of society will be instrumental in winning the war against the pandemic. He said that the huge allocation of around US $ 8 billion as corona relief package by present government despite various financial and economic hardships is a historic step to give relief to the lock-downs in the wake of COVID-19 hit masses.
Earlier while briefing the SAPM about steps taken by district administration in Attock, deputy commissioner Ali Annan Qammar has said that to meet any health emergency 111 medical officers, 117 women medical officer and 50 specialist doctors are available. He further informed that 13 isolation wards established in various medical centers of the district to treat Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) patients while as many as 14 quarantine centers in different areas of the district where as many as 1035 patients could be accommodated. On this occasion, district Police officer Khalid Hamdani also briefed the SAPM steps taken by district Police to ensure lockdown, discouraging social gathering and establishing pickets on intercity, inter district and inter provincial routes to minimize the movement of the masses to avert the spread of virus.
