A total of 83 suspects of COVID -19 emerged in AJK: Only 2 detected positive:

57 tests declared negative: Report of tests of rest of  24 suspects awaited:

MIRPUR, (ParliamentTimes): AJK State Health Authorities here on Friday categorically declared that only 39 suspects of corona virus were registered with the Health Authorities in this district by Friday – March 27, of which 32 were tested and 24 of them were tested negative.

Updating the media about the so far emerging of the pandemic in Mirpur district, the District Health Officer Dr. Fida Hussain, said in a statement Friday that only 2 cases were detected positive in entire Azad Jammu Kashmir by March 27 and both of them are under treatment at the quarantine centre in the local health facility. “The report about the tests of rest of the 6 suspects is awaited from the NIH Lab Islamabad”, he added. The DHO said that only 2 suspects were detected as positive including a fresh case of a local land belonging to Bangreela village.

The D.HO further said that the blood samples of the rest of 7 suspects have also been sent to NIHA Islamabad for lab test. The D.H.O asked the masses not to take care of the baseless rumors and propaganda about the outbreak of the pandemic.

Meanwhile, according to another report about the current updated situation of the virus in Azad Jammu & Kashmir, released by the State Health Department, 4 new cases were registered which have been sent to NIH Islamabad for tests.

An official statement of the AJK Government, quoting the State Health Department updated report, revealed that the tests of a total of 83 persons were conducted, of which the results of 57 persons were declared negative. Whereas, only 2 persons’ tests were detected positive, who are under treatment at Quarantine Centre Mirpur, the official report said.

Report about rest of the 24 suspects are awaited, which are to be received within next one or two days.

The State Health Department’s updated report reveals that fully furnished isolation wards have been set up with latest facilities at Ghulam Abbas Institute of Medical Sciences and C.M.H Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Div. Head Quarter Hospitals at Mirpur and Rawalakot besides the D.H.Q Hospitals at Jhelum Valley, Neelum Valley, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Bhimber, Kotli and New City Mirpur.
