FG College holds prize distribution ceremony


Rawalpindi:    (Parliament Times)   To commend the consistent efforts of students who excelled in academic and co-curricular activities during the year 2019-2020, the Annual prize distribution of FG Postgraduate College for women, Kashmir Road Rawalpindi was held in Salma Masud Auditorium. Dr. SM Junaid Zaidi (HI, SI) Executive Director, Founder Rector COMSATS was the honourable chief guest whereas GSO-II Colleges FGEIs (C/G) Directorate Major Muhammad Ghaffar was also present on this occasion. The ceremony started with the recitation of the Quranic verses by Hafsa Muddassar. Beenish Mustafa presented Naat-e- Rasool-e- Maqbool (SAW). College Anthem was displayed on multi media.

According to spokesman Wajid Masaud, giving an introduction to the ceremony, Ms. Kulsoom Mushtaq said that the prime aim of any sound educational institution is to develop an all-round personality of its students. Encouragement and rewards are an integral part of the process of learning, she added. Today’s ceremony was organised to reward the hard work, dedication and commitment of the position holders in academic and co- curricular activities for the year 2019-2020.

Honourable Principal Prof. Rana Arshad Qazi, in her address highlighted the glorious tradition and excellent results of the college which has produced countless distinguished females over the years. She presented a brief synopsis of the college results in Punjab University and Federal Board Exams. In FA/ FS.c Examination college students have secured 99% and 2nd position in Pre. Medical group, 97% in Pre. Engineering group, 97% in Gen. Science group, 95% in Humanities and 97% in BS Programme during the year 2019-2020. Addressing the high achievers, she said that academic institutions achieve their prestigious status due to their Excellence in Academics and Co- Curricular activities. She stressed upon the importance of modern technology in the field of education; Modern age is the age of adding micro credentials or adding nanno degrees in our traditional degrees. Micro credentials can be earned through short, targeted educational offering that focus on specific skills in a particular field. She congratulated students on their achievements and asked them to take benefit from educational technology and win more laurels for themselves, their institution and their parents.

Sajjar, Beenish, Nighat, Laraib and Summaya presented national songs in their melodious voices to infuse the revolutionary spirit among the audience. A special segment on this occasion was an Urdu play “Chinaar Jal Rahey Hain” to express our solidarity with our Kashmiri brethren and to highlight the heroic struggle of Kashmiris for freedom. The play won a great deal of applause.

The chief guest Dr. SM Junaid Zaidi(HI, SI) Executive Director COMSATS distributed prizes, certificates and medals among the high achievers in academics and co- curricular activities. Certificates and medals were awarded to the brilliant students for holding positions in College/Federal Board/ Punjab University Examinations. Subject prizes were given to the highest scorers in different subjects at Intermediate and Graduation level. High achievers of co-curricular activities also received certificates for being declared “The Best” in their respective fields. An exceptionally brilliant student Maryam Younas got three subject prizes in English Comp, Economics and Persian Opt. An equally talented student Saba Sharif received three prizes in Chemistry, Biology and Urdu (Comp). Ambreen Bibi , another shining star clinched three subject prizes in History, Civics and Islamiat Elective. Visha Bhatti was the proud recipient of prizes in Biology and English Comp. At intermediate level, another shining star, Amna Muzaffar received two subject prizes in Comp Science and Maths. Javeria Tahir bagged two prizes in H. Economics and Persian. Rafia Batool received two prizes in Botany and Pak Studies. Amna Zahidi Satti and Saba Aslam proudly received prizes for securing 1st and 2nd positions in M.A Urdu. The class positions at BA/B.Sc 2019-2020 were granted to the following students: Nageen Aziz(1st position), Kainat Tariq (2nd position),Rimsha Moin (3rd position) in Maths, comp science and physics group. In Zoology, Botany and Chemistry group Rafia Batool got 1st position, Sana Hameed 2nd and Sana Batool is on 3rd position. In Humanities Group Maryum Younas secured 1st position. Its a matter of great honor that college student, Mehreen Khalid got 1st position in all FGEI colleges and 3rd in Federal Board.

The chief guest in his address highly applauded mothers of high achievers who are the main instrumental force behind the achievements of their children. He also paid homage to those CBians who have not been in the lime light, but have been enjoying very esteemed states. Giving his reviews on the play he said that we need to prepare our next generation for the noble cause of “ The liberation of Kashmir”.He appreciated the role of teachers and mothers by giving standing ovation. He further added that Pakistan is full of golden chances and opportunities. It is a land of hidden treasures. He asked students not to be discouraged by the negative propaganda of the electronic media, rather have faith in the goodness of human beings. Sharing some nostalgic memories of the past , he called upon the students to be more positive, practical and make the best use of their potentials. For the past 40 to 45 years we have been in a state of war, hence we need to ease our frustration and anxieties, he said. He concluded his address on a positive note and stressed upon the fact that we must develop a pleasant and jovial outlook as it is good for health and brings about positive change in the lives of people,

The solemn ceremony ended with the recitation of National Anthem.
