Islamabad: (Parliament Times) Chief Spokesman Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Muhammad Rafiq Dar has appealed the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres to play his pro-active to help-resolve the lingering Kashmir dispute in line with the universally accepted principle of right to self-determination.
The JKLF leader, who had a chance-meeting with the UN Secretary General at Pakistan Foreign Minister on 16th February, sought the highest body’s effective intervention to stop rights violations in IoK and early release of incarcerated party chairman M Yasin Malik and other prisoners. Dar appealed the UN chief to send UNHR Commission to Kashmir to inquire about the gross human rights violations committed by Indian forces.
“Jammu Kashmir is an unresolved disputed territory and its people should be provided an opportunity to decide their own fate”, a statement quoting JKLF Chief Spokesman as saying. As per the statement the UN Secretary General on the occasion assured him of “looking into the issue seriously, and of taking certain necessary measures”.
