    LHC dismisses government plea seeking cancellation of Capt (Retd) Safdar bail

    Lahore:     Lahore High Court (LHC) has dismissed petition regarding cancellation of bail of Capt (Rtd) Safdar declaring it non maintainable..
    Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan heard the petition filed by Government of Punjab Tuesday.
    Deputy prosecutor took stance that Safdar has made media talk against state institutions in session court and section 124 was imposed against him in the case which is not bailable. The sentence of this offence is life imprisonment. .
    Court said “ you have written that Mohammad Safdar has asked for voicing protest against the government. While government itself has been protesting too then case should also be made against it..
    Deputy prosecutor said that protest should be staged within legal parameters while Safdar made speech on government collapse besides fomenting hate among lawyers, he also made statement to bring Imran khan for taking extension.
    Court said whose extension has been talked about?
    Law officer said “ Army Chief extension and it falls under the ambit of treason.
    Court has rejected government plea declaring it non maintainable.
    It is pertinent to mention here that Mohammad Safdar was arrested on October 30 last year and case was registered against him under 16 MPO. On the next day of his arrest when police presented him in the court then police registered two more cases against Safdar.
