LEEDS,(Parliament Times): National Equality Party organized a special function to commemorate 36th anniversary of the popular Kashmiri leader Muhammad Maqbool Butt who was hanged to death on 11 February 1984 and buried in the premises of Tihar jail.
Chaired by Sajjad Raja Chairman National Equality Party, the event was attended by members of Kashmiri diaspora community including former Member of the European Parliament Shafaq Mahmood Chaudhry, President of the United Kingdom Saim Manzoor President of the National Equity Party, Chaudhry Qayyum PPP Leader, Bashir Rtwi Muslim Conference Leader, Amjad Yusuf UKPNP Leader, and the National Leadership Party of the NEP Altaf Hussain Chief Organizer UK Chief Organizer and several others whereas Amjad Chaudhary editor In Chief Daily Sada e Channar and former vice Chairman Press Foundation AJK was chief guest on the occasion.
Speakers on the occasion said that the sacrifice of Muhammad Maqbool Butt Shaheed gave Kashmiris a renewed commitment and encouragement. They said that that the supreme sacrifices rendered by Shaheed Maqbool Butt had inspired millions of Kashmiri youth. “Shaheed Kashmir Mohammad Maqbool Butt is still alive in the hearts and minds of freedom fighters”, they added.
They said that the day was not far when the martyred leader’s dream of an independent and sovereign state will come true. They said that the sacrifices rendered by the people of Kashmir will not go in vain.
Speakers on the occasion vowed to fight for the independence of Kashmir as per the martyred leader’s political philosophy.
